Francis Turbine is one of the most widely used types of turbines, combining the characteristics of radial flow and axial flow. The water first enters the runner radially and then gradually turns to axial flow. This unique design makes it perform well under medium and high head (30-700 meters) and medium flow conditions.
Its runner adopts a spatial twisted blade design, which can efficiently convert the kinetic energy and pressure energy of the water flow into mechanical energy. It is the main model of modern large and medium-sized hydropower stations.
Wide range of high efficiency: It can maintain a high efficiency of more than 85% within the load range of 50%-100%, and the peak efficiency of some advanced models can reach 94%.
Strong and reliable structure: Francis Turbine adopts high-strength stainless steel runner, with excellent cavitation resistance and a service life of more than 30 years.
Flexible operation: Equipped with an adjustable guide vane mechanism, it can quickly respond to changes in grid load and has excellent frequency regulation and peak regulation performance.
Easy maintenance: Francis Turbine adopts a split-petal runner and a detachable structure, which is convenient for on-site inspection and maintenance.

Francis Turbine is particularly suitable for medium and high head power stations in mountainous rivers, and is widely used in cascade development hydropower stations with a head section of 100-400 meters. It performs particularly well when used as a pump turbine in a pumped storage power station.
Francis Turbine is generally used in large hydropower stations, with a single unit capacity of up to 800MW or more.
